Year of the Sheep

For an exchange with some English felt makers, with the subject " Year of the Sheep'.

I made this sheep from thread cuttings and some machine embroidery on a dryer cloth 

Voor een uitwisseling met een aantal engelse viltsters, met als thema jaar van het schaap, heb ik een schaap gevilt op een "droogtrommel doekje". 

Het schaap zelf bestaat uit wat restjes draad, en is verder met de naaimachine geborduurd.

Birthday

I made a present for my mother's birthday, she will be 86 this January.

In the picture, the second woman from the left is my great-grandmother at the age of 18 in 1918.

My card for the Felt Picture Postcard exchange is made of old leftovers, which I used to try out my embroidery machine some time ago.

Mijn kaart voor de Felt Picture Postcard uitwisseling is gemaakt van reeds bestaande restjes vilt waar ik een tijdje terug mijn borduurmachine op uitgeprobeerd heb.

A couple of years ago I bought a secondhand embroidery machine; a Brother 100 sewing computer. I like this machine because I can use it with a computer programme called PE light design, which I got from the Matri webshop.  It allows me to design my very own embroidery patterns.

Een paar jaar geleden heb ik via Marktplaats een oude borduurmachine gekocht: een Brother 100 sewing computer. Wat deze machine leuk maakt is een computer programma dat je extra aanschaft waarmee je je eigen borduurpatronen kan ontwerpen. Die schrijf je naar een geheugenkaartje dat in de borduurmachine gaat. Daarom kan ik gemakkelijk mijn eigen ontwerpen  borduren! Het programma dat ik gebruik heet PE light design en ik heb dit gekocht in de koopjeskelder van Matri, een naaimachine winkel op internet.

Some of these experiments I needle felted together and embroidered some more by hand. When I was satisfied with the result I felted the whole thing one more time.

Een aantal van deze proefjes heb ik aan elkaar gepunched en hier en daar wat met de hand geborduurd, toen ik tevreden was met het resultaat heb ik het geheel nog eens goed doorgevilt.

Felt in the UK, Lake district

I'm finishing my felt work inspired by my trip to the Lake district.

This Saturday we have a reunion in the studio of Corrie Balk and everybody is bringing a piece of felt work, inspired by our trip earlier this year.  

I'm not really sure whether to cut the work in half or to leave it in one piece. Any ideas?
