My card for the Felt Picture Postcard exchange is made of old leftovers, which I used to try out my embroidery machine some time ago.

Mijn kaart voor de Felt Picture Postcard uitwisseling is gemaakt van reeds bestaande restjes vilt waar ik een tijdje terug mijn borduurmachine op uitgeprobeerd heb.

A couple of years ago I bought a secondhand embroidery machine; a Brother 100 sewing computer. I like this machine because I can use it with a computer programme called PE light design, which I got from the Matri webshop.  It allows me to design my very own embroidery patterns.

Een paar jaar geleden heb ik via Marktplaats een oude borduurmachine gekocht: een Brother 100 sewing computer. Wat deze machine leuk maakt is een computer programma dat je extra aanschaft waarmee je je eigen borduurpatronen kan ontwerpen. Die schrijf je naar een geheugenkaartje dat in de borduurmachine gaat. Daarom kan ik gemakkelijk mijn eigen ontwerpen  borduren! Het programma dat ik gebruik heet PE light design en ik heb dit gekocht in de koopjeskelder van Matri, een naaimachine winkel op internet.

Some of these experiments I needle felted together and embroidered some more by hand. When I was satisfied with the result I felted the whole thing one more time.

Een aantal van deze proefjes heb ik aan elkaar gepunched en hier en daar wat met de hand geborduurd, toen ik tevreden was met het resultaat heb ik het geheel nog eens goed doorgevilt.

I used the extra silk to "paint" a mountain.

 I will send some leftovers along with the felt postcard.

                                 I received this card with silk birds and white mull on a cloud, and there was some extra silk fabric for me to use.

Felt picture postcards 3.0

Last week we finished the "Felt picture postcards" series, in which we used mixed wool as a background. The last card in the series is also the first of our new series.

The new assignment is again a felt postcard, but it comes with some of the material that is used on it, separately. This material you then have to use on the next card you make.

Vorige week hebben we de serie "Felt picture postcards", waarin we de gemêleerde wol als achtergrond  gebruikten, afgesloten. De laatste kaart in deze serie, is ook meteen de eerste van onze nieuwe serie. De nieuwe opdracht is een viltkaart maken en een van de daarin gebruikte materialen los meesturen. Het is de bedoeling dat dit los toegevoegde materiaal in de volgende kaart wordt gebruikt.

Today I want to show you the felted postcards that I regularly and enthusiastically send to my dear friend M. and the felted the postcards I receive back again.

This is the third series, which started in the summer of 2011. The first series called In response to your letter were created in 2008 - 2009 and the second series 2010-2009 were published in a limited edition.

Vandaag wil ik graag de vilten ansichtkaarten laten zien die ik met grote regelmaat en veel enthousiasme stuur naar mijn lieve vriendin M. en de vilten ansichtkaarten die ik dan weer ontvang. Dit is de derde serie in een rij begonnen in de zomer van 2011. De eerste serie, In antwoord op u schrijven, is ontstaan in 2008- 2009 en de tweede serie is van 2010-2009 en  in een beperkte oplage in boekvorm verschenen.
