Crochet-Haken 3 Bags

After months of crocheting on the train, while visiting friends and family, even in waiting rooms and in cafes I now have such a huge amount of granny squares that I can easily choose the right color to make this big bag I wanted to make.

Because it requires little equipment I can do it basically everywhere.

Ik haak in de trein en in wachtkamers, bij familie en vrienden met een kopje koffie in een cafe echt overal. Het is ook zo makkelijk alles wat je nodig hebt zijn een paar draadjes of een bolletje en een haaknaald. Dit past altijd wel in mijn tas en een patroon heb ik na al die tijd niet meer nodig.

Because I have so many granny squares now, I decided to make a big bag out of them. 

Heb ik zo'n enorme hoeveelheid granny squares dat ik besloot een grote tas te maken.

I rearranged the colours until I liked the way it looked.

I sewed the granny squares together, on the wrong side with a woolen tread.

Then I finished the bag with two crocheted handles and green flannel lining and some handy pockets on the inside made with fabric from the town of Marken, where I have written about here and here.

Where to buy materials in Amsterdam

In Amsterdam,  there is an amazing street market on Monday mornings where I love to go. At the foot of the Noorderkerk there is the Noordermarkt, where they sell mostly vintage clothing and antiques. On Westerstraat there is the Westermarkt at the same time, where there are lots of fabrics, ribbons, and other materials for sale. There is also a stall with leather, big and small pieces. 

In Amsterdam is op maandagochtend een geweldige markt waar ik graag heenga. Bij de Noorderkerk is de Noordermakt, waar vooral vintage kleding en antiek worden verkocht. Op de Westerstraat is de Westermarkt of Lapjesmarkt waar heel veel textiel, linten en andere materialen te koop zijn. Er is ook een kraam met heel veel leer; grote en ook kleinere stukken.

I was looking for a piece of grey leather to go with my grey piece of hand felt to make a sturdy bag. I'll publish the result here when it's finished. 

Ik was op zoek naar een stuk grijs leer om samen met mijn grijze gevilte lap te verwerken in een stevige tas. Ik zal het resultaat hier posten als de tas af is. 

Felt and Leather

Felt square 26 x 36 cm. Lap vilt van 26 bij 36 cm.

I made a bag out of all kinds of blue and brown leftover scraps of felt. The two embroidered squares ar at the back of the bag. The leather front flap has two magnetic snaps.

Ik heb een tas gemaakt van allerlei blauwe en bruine vilt restjes.  De twee geborduurde stukjes vilt zijn op de achterkant van de tas terug te vinden.

Aan de voorkant van de tas zit de leren flap met twee magneet sluitingen.
